Infrastructure Engineer – Backup and Virtualization
Manage Commvault backup, storage, VMware, and cloud systems for Rice University’s Baker Institute. Develop secure, scalable infrastructure and improve enterprise data protection and recovery.
Aprašymas
- Administer and support compute, storage, and private cloud platforms and services.
- Set strategy for scalable, secure infrastructure, enterprise data management, and recovery.
- Design and implement infrastructure solutions, architecture plans, technology roadmaps, and project plans.
- Work with the Technology Solutions & Services and Enterprise Infrastructure teams.
- Oversee several projects at the same time.
- Act as lead administrator for the Commvault data management platform.
- Monitor the health and performance of the CommServe server and its MediaAgents.
- Configure and maintain Quantum tape libraries, cloud storage targets, and SAN devices.
- Deploy and manage CommCell Virtual Server Agents for backup and recovery across VMware and public cloud environments.
- Assess emerging technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure efficiency and resource use.
- Keep detailed infrastructure documentation for support staff, developers, and users.
Reikalavimai
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least three years of related experience as an infrastructure engineer or systems administrator.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and troubleshoot physical backup equipment, including tape libraries and Fibre Channel fabrics.
- Ability to find solutions across complex, diverse Linux and Windows environments.
- Experience leading large-scale deployment projects.
- Experience applying security policies, including micro-segmentation and zero-trust practices.
