Lead backend engineering for resilient distributed systems and scalable applications at Veritone. Shape technical direction, improve reliability, and support AI-focused platform integrations.

- Solve complex, ambiguous problems in previously unexplored areas
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to align architecture and advance shared priorities
- Set technical direction, establish engineering practices, and develop long-term roadmaps
- Build and deploy maintainable, cost-efficient, responsive solutions
- Collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure teams to create and improve scalable applications and services
- Work with Operations and Infrastructure to build, scale, and monitor dependable services
- Design, develop, test, and debug high-performance software for mission-critical business applications
- Assess and optimize frontend and backend codebases to improve system efficiency and performance

- At least five years of experience architecting and building high-performance, dependable systems in complex, multi-tiered distributed environments
- Advanced programming ability with modern languages and frameworks such as Golang, Node.js, or React
- Strong command of object-oriented and functional design principles
- Experience contributing to the end-to-end design of new and existing systems
- Knowledge of architectural integrity, design patterns, security, reliability, and horizontal scalability
- Extensive experience applying engineering best practices throughout the software development life cycle
- Experience with disciplined coding standards, thorough code reviews, source control, and automated testing
- A strong record of operational excellence and continuous deployment
- Demonstrated ability to deploy and maintain production-grade software at scale
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or strong grounding in computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and algorithms
