Senior/Principal Civil Engineer – Water, AtkinsRéalis, Derby Hybrid
Lead wastewater and surface water infrastructure projects for AtkinsRéalis in Derby, from early feasibility through detailed design. Support UK water programmes, including CSO reduction initiatives, while guiding multidisciplinary delivery.

- Provide technical leadership across wastewater and surface water projects, from feasibility and optioneering through outline and detailed design
- Direct the preparation or review of technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Maintain the quality, consistency, and engineering integrity of project solutions
- Serve as a technical contact for clients and project stakeholders
- Contribute to sound design decisions and efficient project delivery
- Work closely with hydraulic modellers, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and other specialists
- Create coordinated solutions that are practical to construct
- Help deliver initiatives designed to reduce Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) spills
- Offer technical supervision, mentoring, and guidance to developing engineers
- Use digital tools and project data to strengthen design quality, efficiency, and decisions
- Focus primarily on Severn Trent’s AMP8 CSO reduction programme
- Support UK and international clients, including water companies, highways authorities, and Network Rail
- Contribute to Design & Build work and coordinate with contractors
Талаптар
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related subject
- Chartered membership with ICE or CIWEM
- Substantial experience designing and delivering wastewater or surface water infrastructure, preferably within regulated water or infrastructure frameworks
- Working knowledge of current UK codes, standards, and established industry practice
- Experience contributing to technically complex work in multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with relevant digital and analytical tools, including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, InfoWorks ICM, Civil 3D, and GIS platforms
- Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Capability to support and develop colleagues
- Security clearance may be required, with relevant clearance to be obtained when necessary
- Security vetting may require evidence of at least five years of UK residency
