Director of Outsourced Accounting and Finance - Rochester, NY
Lead outsourced accounting and financial management engagements for nonprofit clients at The Bonadio Group. Oversee reporting, controls, onboarding, client relationships, and team development.

- Act as a senior financial advisor and relationship lead for a portfolio of nonprofit clients
- Direct the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements, management reports, dashboards, KPIs, and related reporting
- Advise clients on accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and finance operations
- Apply nonprofit accounting and reporting standards across diverse client situations and organizational structures
- Review general accounting activities, including reconciliations, workpapers, accounts payable, and month-end close
- Help clients establish, strengthen, and maintain accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls
- Lead new-client onboarding, process assessments, improvement initiatives, and implementation efforts
- Develop trusted relationships with client leaders
- Coordinate multiple client engagements, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members through technical guidance and feedback
- Assign work and oversee quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction
- Train clients and colleagues on shared accounting and technology applications
- Use accounting technology and financial systems to improve efficiency, reporting, and service delivery
- Respond to unexpected or time-sensitive client and firm needs
- Support strong client satisfaction and the growth of the Outsource Accounting and Finance practice

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- At least six years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting nonprofit organizations, including nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, clients, projects, or financial functions concurrently
- Proven leadership experience mentoring, developing, and overseeing professional staff
- Strong client service, relationship management, communication, and presentation skills
- Well-developed organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while handling changing or urgent client priorities
- Preferred: public accounting, outsourced accounting, client accounting and advisory services, or comparable professional services experience
- Preferred: experience serving as or supporting a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar nonprofit financial leader
- Preferred: familiarity with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and comparable applications
- Preferred: experience enhancing accounting processes, reporting, systems, and internal controls
- CPA or another relevant professional certification preferred
