Description

  • Own the design, development, operation, and maintenance of critical systems, with responsibility for reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Help shape the product roadmap and set personal career goals.
  • Partner with the team to deliver features and refine them based on results.
  • Lead projects from early planning through customer release and ongoing operations.
  • Contribute to open-source projects outside the team’s immediate remit.
  • Join on-call rotations and take ownership of operated services.
  • Mentor colleagues and help them succeed.
  • Take part in design reviews and collaborate with the team.
  • Build knowledge of the cloud product, customer needs, and its large distributed systems codebase.

Requirements

  • Bring solid experience with at least one programming language; Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar experience is relevant.
  • Have some experience carrying projects from requirements gathering and brainstorming through delivery to customers.
  • Have some experience building cloud software or working in systems engineering.
  • Write clean, robust, performant, maintainable software.
  • Be able to work independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Experience with low-level database, storage-layer, or query-engine code is a plus.
  • Kubernetes experience is a plus.
  • Operational experience with Grafana and/or Prometheus is a plus.
  • Exposure to microservices and distributed systems, or a desire to learn, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with on-call work, operations or SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code is a plus.
