Site Reliability Engineer

Description

  • Continue cloud cost optimization after the team’s major cost reductions
  • Monitor and respond to SLI/SLO alerts, including Android and iOS purchase-rate indicators
  • Investigate operational anomalies as they occur
  • Adjust alert thresholds and time windows, including suppressing low-traffic alerts from midnight to 6 a.m.
  • Run and maintain the existing Kubernetes and EKS infrastructure
  • Support infrastructure-as-code work with Terraform
  • Help plan and implement disaster recovery
  • Work with product engineering teams to manage AWS Bedrock and AWS Marketplace costs for AI workloads
  • Grow from handling defined tickets to scoping, creating, and completing work for teammates

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience running Kubernetes in day-to-day operations; EKS experience is preferred
  • A solid working knowledge of AWS, including IAM setup; general AWS certifications are a plus
  • Working experience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code tool
  • Experience operating production systems, rather than building their architecture from scratch
  • Some exposure to Python, or an interest in developing it further
  • Knowledge of SRE fundamentals such as error budgets and SLIs/SLOs, or willingness to learn them
  • Some exposure to FinOps or cloud cost management, or an interest in developing those skills
  • Persistence and the ability to learn tools and processes independently
  • A willingness to learn through mentorship and collaboration rather than requiring step-by-step direction
  • Must be based in the United States and remain there throughout employment with Thrive Market
