Senior WordPress Developer, Remote in Ukraine
Build and optimize high-traffic, multilingual WordPress sites at Intetics. The role covers custom themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, APIs, and site performance.
Description
- Build and maintain custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks for high-traffic multilingual WordPress sites.
- Create and maintain shared libraries, block collections, Composer packages, and tools that help teams deliver work efficiently.
- Modernize legacy code, improve queries and caching, and raise Core Web Vitals performance.
- Develop and use REST APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
- Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD improvements, and engineering standards.
- Work with product, marketing, SEO, content, and QA teams to deliver features and improve sites.
- Record technical decisions and help establish engineering best practices.
- Apply sound software development practices and deliver products on schedule.
Requirements
- At least five years of WordPress development experience.
- Strong command of object-oriented PHP 8.x.
- Experience with namespaces, PSR standards, and Composer.
- In-depth knowledge of WordPress Core APIs.
- Strong understanding of hooks, custom post types, taxonomies, WP_Query, and metadata APIs.
- Experience with ACF Pro and native custom fields.
- Hands-on production experience building Gutenberg blocks.
- Experience developing with React and JSX.
- Experience with block.json and @wordpress/scripts.
- Strong command of modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience with Webpack or Vite.
- Experience with modern CSS, including Sass and PostCSS.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
- Experience creating custom WordPress REST endpoints.
- Strong understanding of WordPress security practices.
- Experience with sanitization, escaping, nonces, and user capabilities.
- Expertise in WordPress performance optimization.
- Experience with object caching and query optimization.
- Comfort with Git workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Good written and spoken English.
