Senior Cloud Engineer (Remote, Poland)
Build and operate resilient multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure for XTB, a Polish online trading fintech. The role focuses on Kubernetes, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and cloud governance.
Description
- Design and maintain highly available multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure at scale.
- Deploy and run containerized workloads on managed Kubernetes services.
- Develop and improve infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Create reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and GitOps practices.
- Manage core cloud services, including content delivery, DNS, and object storage.
- Build operational visibility with metrics, dashboards, and alerts in Grafana and Prometheus.
- Manage cloud IAM policies and RBAC, applying least-privilege access.
- Set and enforce cloud governance through Landing Zones and Policy-as-Code standards.
- Maintain hybrid network connectivity and resolve complex issues across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Work with Security, SRE, and Platform teams to improve observability, compliance, and operational reliability.
- Contribute to FinOps work that supports cloud cost efficiency, scalability, and performance.
- Join the on-call rotation and perform occasional out-of-hours maintenance to keep systems available.
Requirements
- At least five years of practical experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure in large-scale environments.
- Hands-on experience with highly available multi-cloud environments and strong working knowledge of at least two of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, platform engineering, and GitOps practices.
- Practical experience with managed Kubernetes services such as AKS, EKS, or GKE.
- Experience in a regulated sector such as fintech or banking, including compliance, security, auditability, and governance requirements.
- Strong scripting or programming ability in Python, Bash, or a similar language.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining infrastructure with Terraform.
- Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab CI/CD.
- Practical experience setting up metrics, dashboards, and alerts with tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Hands-on experience with IAM, RBAC, and least-privilege security.
- Solid understanding of hybrid networking, including BGP, VPN, Direct Connect or ExpressRoute, and hybrid DNS resolution, along with network troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently, own technical delivery, and support production environments.
- Nice to have: IaC pull request workflow automation and orchestration tools such as Atlantis or Terragrunt.
- Nice to have: GitOps delivery tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
- Nice to have: Wiz or a similar cloud security posture management tool.
- Nice to have: Configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Nice to have: FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization experience.
