Mid-Senior DevOps Engineer – On-Premises Kubernetes, Berlin Onsite

Operate and improve on-premises Kubernetes platforms for Xecuro, supporting secure communications and data exchange across Germany’s federal ecosystem.

Description

  • Build, configure, and run on-premises Kubernetes environments
  • Automate infrastructure operations with infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Create and maintain CI/CD delivery pipelines
  • Operate platform monitoring, logging, and alerting
  • Administer network policies, service mesh, and East-West traffic optimization
  • Maintain container-platform availability, scalability, and resilience
  • Introduce new services and microservices into the Kubernetes environment
  • Diagnose issues and improve performance across complex clusters
  • Apply RBAC, secrets management, network policies, and image scanning
  • Deploy and operate bare-metal storage for Kubernetes workloads
  • Administer CSI drivers and distributed storage platforms
  • Oversee Kubernetes clusters and associated system components throughout their lifecycle
  • Partner with development teams to strengthen DevOps practices
  • Document systems, define operating concepts, and advance technical standards

Requirements

  • Substantial experience running Kubernetes on premises rather than solely in managed cloud environments
  • Working knowledge of container technologies including Docker, containerd, or CRI-O
  • Practical experience with service mesh technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to build and operate CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with monitoring and observability practices
  • Strong Linux administration skills across Ubuntu, RHEL, SLES, or comparable distributions
  • Scripting and automation skills in Bash and Python, with Go preferred
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies
  • Understanding of high-availability architectures and cluster design
  • Networking expertise covering TCP/IP, load balancing, ingress, firewalls, and DNS
  • Experience applying Ansible or Terraform for infrastructure as code in regulated environments
  • Experience managing storage systems within Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with GitOps or configuration automation
  • CKA, CKAD, or CKS certification is advantageous
  • Collaborative mindset and a strong sense of responsibility for critical systems
  • Willingness to explore new technologies and projects
  • Interest in working with open-source tooling
