Lead Cloud Network Software Engineer - Hybrid
Lead the architecture and operation of secure, scalable cloud networking for Nu, a Latin American digital bank. Shape hybrid-cloud connectivity across multi-region environments.
Description
- Define and advance the cloud network platform’s technical direction
- Lead connectivity design across multi-account, multi-region, multi-geography, and hybrid-cloud environments
- Make architecture decisions for complex systems spanning multiple components and teams
- Drive complex network initiatives and processes from planning through delivery
- Lower long-term platform complexity through simplification, consolidation, deprecation, and paved paths
- Take ownership of operational health, incident management, post-incident reviews, and technical debt planning
- Support controlled releases through feature flags, progressive rollout, monitoring, and rapid rollback
- Establish engineering quality standards for infrastructure automation and code
- Set the platform’s observability strategy, monitoring practices, controls, and service-level agreements
- Follow business processes across product, transaction, network, and data layers
- Lead the network security posture, including PCI DSS or comparable standards, segmentation, and audit controls
- Assess build-versus-buy decisions and emerging technologies
- Coach IC4 and IC5 engineers
- Contribute to hiring, task forces, and documentation across teams
Requirements
- CCIE, CCNP, or comparable professional experience
- Background designing, implementing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex networking environments at scale
- Practical experience with infrastructure automation and cloud computing, ideally AWS
- Advanced knowledge of AWS networking services such as Transit Gateway, VPC architecture, Direct Connect, PrivateLink, Route 53, NAT and egress patterns, and network firewalls, or comparable technologies
- Extensive experience planning, deploying, and troubleshooting large-scale network solutions
- Experience with IP address management, BGP and dynamic routing, firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches, and hybrid connectivity
- Strong programming ability in Python, .NET, Java, Go, or a similar language
- Experience leading incident response and root-cause analysis for high-impact, unclear failures spanning team boundaries
- Capacity to lead complex, ambiguous initiatives and apply strategic judgment without relying on formal authority
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to relate network platform choices to operational efficiency, reliability, and cost
- Structured approach to root-cause investigation and ongoing improvement
- Availability to work from the office two to three days each week
- Legal authorization to work in the country where the role is based
