Remote junior bookkeeper responsible for transaction records, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, reporting, payroll support, tax preparation, budgeting, and accounting compliance.
Description
- Record and classify financial transactions accurately and on schedule
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial records
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Follow company procedures and applicable accounting standards
- Assist with payroll preparation and verify payroll data reporting
- Support tax return preparation and coordinate with external accountants or auditors as needed
- Organize and securely maintain financial documentation
- Track budgets and notify management of variances or potential concerns
- Help strengthen bookkeeping practices and improve process efficiency
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a bookkeeper or in a comparable position
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms
- Understanding of fundamental bookkeeping practices and financial reporting
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace
- Experience using remote collaboration platforms such as Slack, Zoom, or Teams
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance standards is advantageous
- Bookkeeping, accounting, or related certification is preferred
- Prior experience with a remote or distributed team is preferred
- Familiarity with accounting practices in retail, e-commerce, services, or another relevant industry is preferred
