Controllership Expert, Record to Report – Nubank, Sao Paulo Hybrid
Lead Record to Report and controllership initiatives spanning reconciliations, controls, metrics, and operational improvements. Help strengthen Nubank’s global financial operations through cross-functional partnership and scalable processes.
Description
- Oversee a portfolio of cross-functional Record to Report and controllership initiatives
- Convert strategic priorities into structured plans covering milestones, ownership, dependencies, risks, and governance
- Monitor delivery commitments and build metrics, dashboards, and communication routines
- Aggregate reconciliation performance data across processes, entities, accounts, and teams
- Set reconciliation objectives, leading indicators, thresholds, and corrective plans with process owners and managers
- Facilitate regular performance reviews
- Detect recurring breaks, delays, and control weaknesses and coordinate root-cause resolution
- Build operating practices for controls, close readiness, issue tracking, and follow-through
- Collaborate with Finance Platform, Finance Systems, Data, Engineering, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Internal Audit, Risk, and related teams
- Turn complex financial and operational subjects into clear narratives, alternatives, trade-offs, and recommendations
- Define accountability and decision authority through frameworks such as RACI or RAPID
- Help develop the Record operating model as new global processes are integrated
- Scale proven improvements into consistent standards, playbooks, and working practices across regions
Requirements
- Substantial experience in controllership, accounting operations, financial close, reconciliations, controls, risk, finance operations, or a comparable field
- Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related subject; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered
- Demonstrated success taking complex cross-functional initiatives from unclear problem definition through implementation and sustained adoption
- Strong command of financial processes and controls
- Experience creating metrics, establishing objectives, evaluating performance, diagnosing root causes, and using data to deliver measurable improvements
- Advanced English communication ability
- Hands-on experience analyzing data with Python and SQL
- Strong stakeholder leadership and communication skills, including influencing senior partners without formal authority
- High level of independence, confidence, and accountability
- Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor and pursuing an expert career path rather than people management
- Experience in a technology company, fintech, bank, shared-services setting, or global organization with complex financial operations
- Familiarity with finance systems, ledgers, reconciliation platforms, workflow tools, automation, or data products
- Experience with daily or near-real-time close, tax compliance, audit readiness, or controllership across multiple geographies
- Background in product, program, or project management
- Experience lowering recurring exceptions, manual work, cycle times, or rework through redesigned processes and automation
