Tax Manager, Barclays Payments - London
Lead tax compliance, reporting and advisory work for Barclays’ UK payments acceptance business. The role covers corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes, with responsibility for governance, risk management and transformation support.

- Protect the bank’s financial position through tax compliance, risk mitigation and accurate reporting
- Prepare or review tax returns and agree compliance positions with tax authorities
- Prepare or review tax accounting calculations and disclosures for forecasting, reporting and stress testing
- Deliver technical tax analysis and conclusions across a range of tax matters
- Monitor tax-law developments and assess their impact on Barclays
- Design and operate tax process controls
- Support BPL’s tax strategy, compliance, governance and advisory work across corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes and related areas
- Coordinate tax filings with Finance, Group Tax and external advisers
- Assist with tax authority enquiries, audits and information requests
- Provide tax advice on new products, commercial arrangements, contracts, pricing structures and business initiatives
- Evaluate business changes and operational processes for tax implications, risks and planning opportunities
- Support tax work relating to restructurings, acquisitions, transfer pricing, R&D incentives and strategic projects
- Support employment tax matters including PAYE, PSA, STBV, international assignments and cross-border working
- Work with HR, Payroll and advisers on employment tax risks related to remote work, secondments, business travel and employee mobility
- Maintain tax risk registers and support tax controls and governance frameworks
- Lead process improvements, automation initiatives and documentation
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Product, Technology, Operations, Legal and other functions
- Advise stakeholders, explain complex information, influence decisions and manage risk
आवश्यकताएँ
- A professional tax qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA or an equivalent credential
- Substantial UK corporation tax, VAT and/or employment tax experience
- Experience in financial services, payments, fintech, banking or another regulated environment
- Ability to interpret technical tax legislation and apply it to commercial circumstances
- Experience in payments, acquiring, card or fintech businesses
- Working knowledge of transfer pricing principles
- Experience with R&D tax incentives and Patent Box
- Understanding of international tax and withholding tax matters
- Experience with Oracle-related transformation, tax technology, workflow automation and process improvement
- Exposure to tax issues arising from legal entity restructurings, outsourcing arrangements and operating model changes
- Risk and controls, change and transformation, commercial awareness, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and role-specific technical expertise
