Senior Backend Engineer, Checkout and After-Sales
Improve the checkout, payment, shipping, and after-sales systems used by musicians worldwide. Build APIs and observability tools as part of Thomann’s Tech & Data team.

- Partner across teams to improve the customer journey throughout the order lifecycle.
- Integrate and refine local payment methods for international markets.
- Solve complex shipping and logistics challenges.
- Improve monitoring of critical applications to help detect and resolve issues early.
- Build and maintain internal APIs.
- Connect external APIs with the wider Thomann ecosystem.
- Take ownership of business-critical features and reduce technical debt.
- Work with software and quality engineers, product owners, an engineering manager, a product designer, and a product analyst.
- Create features and technical designs, fix bugs, write tests, and share knowledge through code reviews.

- Bring at least four years of recent professional experience as a software engineer.
- Have a strong grasp of PHP and common frameworks such as Symfony.
- Understand object-oriented programming, common design patterns, and complex database structures.
- Have experience working with and improving legacy code while accounting for business needs and constraints.
- Use Git and Composer to manage code and dependencies.
- Maintain code quality through automated testing.
- Be willing to take part in code reviews.
- Be able to work in English, the team’s daily working language.
- German is an advantage; English speakers who want to learn German will receive support.
- Be based in Germany. Visa sponsorship is unavailable, and the company cannot hire outside Germany.
